At the beginning of June, two of our local residents (Eve Turner and Susie Russell) planned and hosted Summerhill's first "Write On!" spoken word event. Below are some words from Eve on the event...

Write On, SBC’s first spoken word event on Tuesday 6th June, proved what a literary crowd we are. Our three pre-arranged readers set an excellent standard. Thought provoking poetry from Linda France and Lesley Mountain and a witty and ultimately moving short story from Adam Sharp. It was particularly pleasing to welcome participants from neighbouring and not-so-neighbouring areas. In fact, all four open mic readers were non-Summerhill residents, making the evening feel like we’re gradually extending our community.

Is there a future Bard of Summerhill lurking in our midst? Perhaps we’ll find out when Write On 2 happens
