Dan Heaney

Dan has lived in Lancaster Street since 2019.

“As a boy I used to get the bus to school up Westgate Hill every day and peer down the alleyways towards Summerhill where everything looked a bit of other-worldly faded grandeur.

Now the place looks much more cared for and I feel lucky to call it home.

The community is warm and embracing and there is plenty to get involved with.

I , along with a team of volunteers, help maintain the green spaces at the Pavilion and Gardens. Especially the Wildlife Garden which is a hidden but welcoming semi wild space in the city. It’s a beautiful place in which to sit and unwind. Or get stuck in and take some weeds out of the paths!

It’s important the Trust looks after these amazing city-centre green spaces along with the asset that is the pavilion. I’ve enjoyed several events there over the last few years and look forward to helping it serve the community further with my time on the board.

I’d encourage anyone who’d like to volunteer maintain our gardens, allotment, orchard, wildlife garden etc to get in touch with Stuart.”
